Andrew is a Physician Assistant specialist in Tulsa area and has approximately ten years of experience in the field of psychiatry. He graduated from Missouri State University in 2008 with a Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
Andrew is a native of Tulsa Oklahoma. He attended Booker T. Washington High School, Tulsa, Oklahoma and later Langston University, Tulsa, Oklahoma where he earned an undergraduate degree in psychology. His Physician Assistant Studies degree is from Missouri State University 2008. He is a practicing PA-C for more than ten (10) years.
Andrew has successfully worked in multiple outpatient psychiatric clinics across Tulsa with all ages, both child and adolescent, as well as, adult psychiatrists. He takes a harm reduction approach in all areas of treatment. He describes his harm reduction approach by saying, “I'm also big on a shared decision making approach and meeting people where they are at and not where they might be expected to be.” PA-C Carter enjoys working with children, teens, and adults. He has extensive experience with substance abusers and those suffering from deviant behavior.
He is the only certified “Food for Life” instructor in Oklahoma, allowing him to advise patients in matters of food and nutrition. Food for Life is a nutrition and cooking program developed by The Physician’s Committee For Responsible Medicine, which states, “Food for Life is a global leader in plant-based nutrition and cooking education for disease prevention and survival.” Healthy eating habits are very effective in the healing process for good mental and physical well-being.
Andrew is also currently getting his waiver to become a Suboxone prescriber for helping individuals overcome opioid dependency and heroin addiction.
Andrew Carter PA-C is married with two children and an adorable dog, named Bruce. In his free time he enjoys spending time with family, learning new things, traveling, and experiencing life.
Andrew is accepting new patients at Crossroads Counseling. He is available for appointments, which may include outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Like all Crossroads Counseling psychiatric professionals, Andrew shares the Crossroads Counseling mission because of his philosophy of patient care.
