Melissa is a licensed professional counselor that strives to create a therapeutic relationship in which clients feel empowered and respected. She is passionate about guiding people towards growth and developing the skills they need to navigate life’s struggles. Using a strength-based approach, Melissa helps individuals and families identify positive traits in their lives to help them garner the strength to overcome challenges.
Having experience helping people of all ages, she has worked extensively with children and families addressing trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and life adjustments. In her role as a therapist and clinical director, she has provided therapy services and education within the school system and community, worked with foster children and families, and supervised clinicians in an agency setting.
Melissa received her master’s degree in community counseling from Oklahoma State University in 2009 and has since become a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Registered Play Therapist, and is in the process of completing her EMDR consultation / training hours. She utilizes a range of therapeutic modalities including, Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
