Bengkung Belly Binding:
Belly binding is an ancient art practiced in many cultures. It offers the uterus, muscles, skin, and organs stability after the birth of your baby. It can help repair diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles), support your pelvis and lower back and bring a sense of calm from the gentle pressure. You are able to customize the fit for your changing postpartum body, which is not possible with a belly band. Women who had a vaginal birth may begin wrapping as soon as 2-3 days postpartum. It is recommended that women with a cesarean obtain the approval of their healthcare provider before they begin wrapping. Wraps may be worn for any length of time, depending on your preference.
This belly binding technique uses a long strip of cloth to wrap around the abdomen from the hips to the ribcage. The Bengkung belly binding technique is rooted in Malaysian culture; however, various countries and cultures around the world use a form of belly binding to help support the healing process.
